The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuums that mop in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's more expensive and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and fills up the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.
