With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models This mop and robot vacuum cleaner vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our tests. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an its own self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
